Banchte Shekha

<p>Banchte Shekha is one of the leading national organizations in Bangladesh working since 1976 to improve the socioeconomic condition of women and children with a long-term objective. Over 46 years, Banchte Shekha has been recognized as a key development player in liberating and empowering women of Bangladesh. The good works of Banchte Shekha are attracting many visitors from different organizations around the world. From its inception Banchte Shekha aims to improve the socioeconomic condition of the beneficiaries of its working areas especially women and children. It had performed for a long time to bring a positive change in the sector of economical, cultural, women empowerment, human rights, challenges and risks including prolonged conflict, confrontation, natural disaster, social trend-tendencies and fundamentalism. The Development principles upon which Banchte Shekha is established is based call for a commitment to empower the poor, neglected, dominated, exploited women of the community those who are struggling with their lot. BS emphasizes on sharpening skill through awareness building and merging them with various income generation activities in view to increase their dignity to make them socially and economically self reliant. Established in 1976 it has grown to serve directly more than 5,00,000 women of Khulna and Dhaka division, indirectly more than 25 lacs people are being benefited by Banchte Shekha&rsquo;s programmes.</p>
